MOTHERS DAY

Hubby took me yard saleing and antiquing today as my Mothers day present....and oohhhh what a wonderful present it was.I yelled stop!..yard sale so many times and he pulled right over ....even had a smile on his face..lol(at one point I the thought the smile was because he knew if he acted quickly he could just drive away without me...)......I found alot of neat things...here are a few pictures. There would be more but by the time i got into the house to let the dog out ,he had already put them in the garage.Im sure before weeks end i will be in there to take more pictures.......I love the old Trunk/suitcase.It even has a old cruise ship decal on it.The ols picnic basket is a Christmas present for a friend who collects baskets and the oak chair is so nice..I even bought a old feedsack to re-do the seat part...all in all a great day.

re purposing fun!

I bought this dr,s office screen at a estate sale this week and didn't like the white plastic sterile looking inserts,so i got the idea to re do them with burlap.....i like! This will be a great back drop for etsy listings and then for the antique show i do in September.

You never know........

Shopping at the new goodwill..by the pound...i came across this old ugly material quilt. As i was looking it over i could tell that inside of it had to be another quilt..not just cotton batting..So i bought the quilt, took it home and YES! under the old ugly vintage material was this great feed sack quilt.A few small area,s need some TLC..but gosh..what hundred year old quilt doesn't?

OFFICIALLY OUT OF ROOM !

I found this great primitive wall cupboard the other day and bought it.The thing i didnt count on is not having wall space for it.My girlfriend suggested i place it on the wall going down to the first floor. The staircase is winding and the wall she suggested is seen from the top floor, so i asked hubby to hold it up so i could check it out.I liked it.It filled a vacant wall that i didnt even realize i had.Leave it to her to know the best place to hang it.The long oak shutters are from my trip this fall to Harpers Ferry.Ilove them and even tho they are longer then my window and do not close,I still liked how they looked hanging there.

Ask and you shall receive!

Anyone who knows me knows that I will gladly share my "picking" spots with them. I will offer advice on whats selling and whats not, where I saw a great bargain, all the stuff it takes to sell on either ebay or etsy, etc. So with that in mind, my friend wanted to make me something with her knitting talent as a thank you. Well I love the felted clogs I see on etsy (but not so much the price) so I asked for a pair of them. I am thrilled with what she made me and it was also fun to "felt" them myself (something I have never done before) so if you have wanted a pair of felted clogs or if its just you have wanted to felt something and didn't know what to do: Contact her and get a pair of clogs at a very reasonable price with all the instructions to felt them. Shop now: http://barnwander.etsy.com

SOME THINGS WILL NEVER CHANGE!

I keep saying i wont go out hunting anymore for things to add to my collections.yet what do i do first chance i get? I go out and buy..buy..buy......
I love white ironstone and i cant help buying it when i see it.Wooden bowls are also a fav of mine..as is anything with a squirrel. These 2 white Ironstone bowls were inexpensive so i figure i can sell on etsy. The wooden burl bowl will probably go to the ARDEN antique show with me. As for the copper buck weather vane...thats mine! lol........but the pretty silverplate serving pieces will get listed.

WHATS FOR DINNER?

Nothing makes me cringe faster then that sentence! I guess after being a housekeeper/cook for numerous family's i have become stale with idea,s.Im very thankful my husband is so easily satisfied with what i serve him..night after night. One meal he really loves is a sandwich we adapted from a deli around us...they called it a injun joe.Its shaved chicken(just like a steak sandwich meat would be) bacon, fried onions and provolone cheese and bq sauce. Its quit tasty ...even the neighbor gets one when i make them!

MY PASSION FOR WHITE IRONSTONE

I love white ironstone. I love the old farm house pieces, the fancy pieces and even the regular pieces. I've been collecting for around 10 years now and i go thru spurts where i keep it all and i go thru spurts where i sell it all and start all over again. Here are a few of my favorite pieces.......I do sell on etsy and ebay, so if you are looking for any certain piece please ask... you never know what you might find!
I was reading one of my favorite blogs....missmustardseed and she was asked how to clean white ironstone....i did send her my recipe and she contacted W.I.C.A and also got there version on how to clean it......i have a gas stove and knock on wood....i have been just fine baking mine and i also use a higher volume of peroxide(40 to 60 volume)....but im sure for liability sake the W.I.C.A. recipe will be fine...will just take longer..(thats just my 2 cents).....good luck with it and unless you use bleach(ackkkk..bleach will kill your ironstone and turn it to chalk!!!)you cant harm ironstone..its been around hundreds of years, so have fun!
